When you stare at your wall long enough a mural will appear.

I truly feel awful about all the businesses that have been hurt with the Covid-19 virus, but for our staff at Nautical Walls L.L.C, we have been slammed with orders. We are working hard to turn them around into murals, but we have had to add an extra week in prep time to make all the mural orders possible.

We have a theory on why that is the case. When you are are home a lot more than usual, you end up staring at your walls a lot more than usual.

And as you do so, a little voice inside your head says, “this wall is too plain; a wallflower if you will. Now, wouldn’t it be grand if there were a nice mural on this wall, maybe something of a nautical nature?

And then we get an email, text or phone call from you with a question, and the next thing you know we are designing a mural together for that lonely, bare wall.

As you can see from the picture, all these files are current orders in various phases of completion. But the good news is that while it is taking a bit longer to create the mural on our end, we have found a printer to turn your mural around faster and get it on your doorstep sooner than later. And, yes, we still use our high-quality wall covering which is the best product for a mural you can buy. It is washable, mildew resistant and has fire-resistant properties that are required in any commercial installation.

New this year: More topographical map charts, some good hotel charts, ceiling murals, and some exciting new approaches to nautical chart wallpaper murals.

So keep staring at the walls and ceiling. Squint a little bit and we bet you will start to see a nautical mural appear before your eyes. Don’t call the optometrist; that’s just your imagination hard at work. Call us at 801-989-8083 instead and we will make your imagined mural a reality on your wall.

"Skipper" Steve Morris has been sailing for more than 45 years. Whenever Skipper's sailor friends used to talk about their sailing adventures, it was not unusual for them to grab a chart, unroll it to a certain island or waterway, and tell a story of what happened during a particular voyage. As Skipper realized that nautical charts are used for navigating stories as well as passageways, the idea of nautical chart murals came naturally. What better place to tell a tale of the sea than in one's own home or office than with a beautiful nautical chart mural as the visual aid!

In 2013, he moved to the Coeur d'Alene area of Northern Idaho with his wife Linda. When Skipper is not working on murals, you can find him sailing his Erickson 27' on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

He continues to design custom-made wallpaper from nautical charts, satellite photos, topographical maps and favorite photos.
